How it works

A PG&E report you can act on. No hardware. No new provider.

1

Get your bill, then upload

Download the PDF from pge.com or photograph a paper bill. We walk through those steps next to the drop zone.

2

We audit every line

E-TOU-C, E-TOU-D, EV2-A, NEM credits, CCA rates. We read what is on your PG&E bill, then compare plans.

3

Switch on pge.com

If a cheaper plan shows up, the report lists the dollar amount and the exact clicks on PG&E’s site. You still make the change yourself.

From a real statement

What a PG&E bill actually prints.

Name, address, and account number removed. These are printed totals from a June 1, 2026 energy statement, not a modeled savings estimate.

Printed totals from a June 1, 2026 PG&E energy statement. Name, address, and account number removed. The $95.43 due now and the $2,526.49 NEM true-up balance are both on that PDF. Neither is a savings estimate.

For solar homeowners

Your NEM 2.0 credits are worth more than you think.

If you're grandfathered into NEM 2.0, your export credits are locked in at a much better rate than new NEM 3.0 customers get. Upload your bill to see your real number.

Common questions

Everything you need to know

What is My Big Bill? +

My Big Bill is a free tool that analyzes your PG&E bill to find overcharges, identify the lowest-cost rate plan for your home, and calculate how much you could save. Upload your PDF bill and get a full report in under 2 minutes. No account required.

Which rate plan saves the most money? +

There is no single cheapest PG&E plan. EV2-A is cheaper per kWh only from midnight to 3 p.m. E-TOU-C peaks 4-9 p.m. every day and applies a baseline credit. Which one costs less depends on when you use electricity. Upload a bill to compare plans against that usage.

Are there any penalties for switching rate plans? +

No. Residential customers may change PG&E rate plans two times in a 12-month period at no charge. After the second change, you stay on that rate for one year. Changes usually take effect on your next billing cycle. Source: PG&E’s “How often can I change my rate?” help article.

Can I switch in the middle of my billing cycle? +

Yes. If you switch mid-cycle, the old plan applies to usage before your switch date and the new plan applies going forward. You will not be billed the new rates retroactively.

Does it work for solar customers? +

Yes, and it is especially important for solar customers. My Big Bill analyzes your NEM balance, true-up exposure, and usage patterns to show whether you are maximizing your solar investment or heading for a large September true-up charge.

Does it work for SCE or SDG&E? +

No. My Big Bill currently analyzes PG&E residential bills only, including CCA bills on PG&E delivery such as MCE or SVCE. If you upload an SCE or SDG&E bill, we will tell you clearly instead of producing a PG&E report that does not apply.

How do I download my PG&E bill? +

Sign in at pge.com/myaccount. On the dashboard, select View Current Bill under Pay Now, then save the PDF. For a past month, use All payments tasks, then Billing and Payment History, then View Bill PDF. If you only have a paper bill, photograph every page and upload the photos.

Is My Big Bill free? +

Yes. Bill analysis is free with no account required. Upload your PG&E bill and see the full report. Creating an account is only if you want to keep the report for later.
